We're Staying in Delhi!

Updated: Nov 9, 2020

Winston Checking Out The View From Our Balcony

We've decided that, despite what is going on in the world with COVID-19, we will stay in Delhi.

AES has closed its' campus until March 31 as we follow the government's directives. Our faculty is teaching online.

Because of this, many of our colleagues are flying or have flown home. We were thinking of doing the same but have decided to stay here because we have:

1. Our comfy apartment.

2. Nice well water.

3. Fast Internet for work and play.

4. Very few people on a 13 acre campus - social distancing at its best.

5. Stocked up on food.

6. Board games to keep us occupied.

7. Everything that the campus has to offer: gym, weight room, ping pong table, and our offices/classrooms for work.

8. Food deliveries so we do not have to leave campus.

9. Winston, our dog, in case food runs out. LOL

We have paid Sujata for a month and have asked her to stay home. We want her to be healthy. Her risk of being infected is increased as she uses public transportation. It's safer for her and her family and for us. And having Kirsi and Aidan do more chores is not a bad thing at all. Plus, we can give the closets a good cleaning.

If we were to fly home, we would have to self quarantine for 14 days as we would not want to spread anything that we may have picked up in airports or on the plane. Our school is scheduled to open April 20th so we wouldn't be home that long.

The risk that we take is that if things get worse here and/or in Canada then we cannot fly home for the summer. If that's the case, we may travel throughout northern India if COVID-19 is contained there.

As long as we're together, we'll be fine. And it looks like our home will be the home of the Tigers.

Who knows, maybe our friends will come back to visit.
