Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia's most popular attraction and for good reason. An UNESCO World Heritage site, the park is a series of 16 lakes inter-connected by cascading falls and surrounded by beech and spruce trees.
Wildlife
The lake in the park are inhabited by trout and common minnows. And while there are bear and lynx, we saw no signs of wildlife other than Mallard ducks, cormorants, and herons.
Boardwalk
Well constructed boardwalks lead you from one fall to the next and along emerald-colored lakes. Eventually, you wind your way to a boat dock. There, you hop on an electric boat and are taken to the path leading back to the entrance. At times, when there was spray from the falls, they got a little slippery with ice.
