Udaipur – Octopussy, Lake Pichola, City Palace

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

We woke at 4:30 to get to the airport in time for our one hour flight to Udaipur, the City of Lakes. Day 1 included the City Palace, a perfect example of Rajput architecture. It was built in stages over a period of 400 years.

We then took a boat ride on Lake Pichola. We sailed past the Taj Lake Palace, a setting for the 1983 James Bond movie, Octopussy. The captain dropped us all at Jag Mandir, a 17th-century island palace that is now a hotel and restaurant. We had a drink while overlooking the lake and took in the gardens before heading back to our Hotel Poonam Haveli.

We loved staying there and ate breakfast and suppers on their rooftop restaurant. While the sun rose or set, we enjoyed great meals and views of the lake and the palaces. Here are photos from Day 1: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EJ0gQ99vTh7S1bOX2
