(2018) 34 photos and 1 video of our safari at Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka.
Udawalawe National Park, 308 square kilometers, is a green combination of marshes, forests, grasslands with the Walawe River floating through.
Sri Lankan elephants, water buffalo, water monitor lizards, painted storks, pelicans, eagles, crocodiles, toque macaque, and tufted grey langurs call Udawalawe home.
Spotting wildlife was non-stop throughout the safari, which most likely accounted for the large number of tourists joining us that morning.
About 250 Sri Lankan elephants are attracted to the park because of the Udawalawe reservoir. They stand 2m to 3.5m tall at the shoulder and weigh between 2,000 and 5,000 kg.
Udawalawe National Park is relatively easy to get to as it sits in the popular south part of the island and has lots of accommodations nearby.
