Derwin got an email from someone at work which warned us that her friend had had a scary incident happen to her. Apparently, she was grocery shopping with her 1-year-old and a guy came up to her in one of the aisles and started asking her about different sauces that go with a certain food. She was talking to him and then noticed that two people, a man and a woman, came up on her right side and blocked her view of her baby in the cart. She was really uneasy about it but the guy kept talking. After a few seconds, and her getting a really bad feeling, she pushed the people out of the way and pushed the cart away. She warned the security people in the store about these three and they asked her to come into the office. On the videotape, she saw that the woman lifting her child out of the cart while the man blocked her view. Thankfully, the mom had the instinct to act when she did.
I guess they followed the couple out of the store. The man was talking on his cell phone and they headed down to the parking lot where a taxi was waiting for them. The other guy came out a few minutes later, also talking on his phone, and got into a car that was parked in the parking lot.
And this happened at the grocery store where I go EVERY week to do my shopping!!!! [:O] I keep thinking about that woman and how scared she must have been and I wonder, “What if that had been me?” Sometimes you get just a little too comfortable and let your guard down; talk about a wake-up call for me!
