40+ days of Lock Down In The Books

Our campus is eerily empty.

40+ days of Lock Down In The Books

So far, our #1 activity is still school and work.

For Dana and myself, our school responsibilities are taking more time than usual. For those who think that teachers are on holidays because of virtual learning, they couldn't be more wrong.

At least we can go to the bathroom anytime we need to (a luxury in the education world).

The kids are in a decent routine with school. Both Kirsi and Aidan are learning a lot about being consistent and keeping track of their assignments. In some ways, they like learning at home better.

We've:

1. Played more ping pong.

2. Played more video games - good old Xbox 360!

3. Cleaned and cooked and sorted.

School

School is still going on. Dana is preparing classes for Virtual Learning, which takes more time than it would be for planning for regular classes. Derwin is taking care of day to day admin stuff while preparing for next year.

Kirsi and Aidan are taking care of business with their classes.

Chores and Routines

Without Sujata here to take care of the cleaning and cooking, Vineet to do our laundry, and Uday to water our plants, we're back to reality where we have to take care of all that ourselves.

And that hasn't been a bad thing. We're all chipping in to clean and cook. Kirsi waters the plants and mops the floors. Aidan cooks and vacuums. Dana and Derwin have cleaned out our storage closets.

It's been good for the kids and parents to get back into some of the chores and daily routines. #SpoiledLife

The Positives

Still, it's weird and sad that we're not in school.

There are no concerts or performances going on.

There are no events or activities in the gym - and definitely none of these bigs guys hanging around.

There are only essential staff on campus to take care of school maintenance.

We miss the students and our colleagues. The kids miss their friends but we're happy and healthy and together - and that's what counts.
